Homeowners are expected to perform roofing inspections between roofing maintenance appointments. In addition to helping keep roofing damage to a minimum, regular inspections can also save you money. Why Should You Conduct Roofing Inspections?

Professional roofing maintenance is conducted every three to five years, which can be pre-booked through a maintenance agreement, or booked individually by the homeowner. Between these appointments, things can happen to the roof: it could get damaged by high winds or extreme temperatures, or parts of the roof may deteriorate prematurely. Regular inspections allow homeowners to spot these problems with their roofs as soon as possible, which lets them have the roof fixed before it can get worse.

Unlike roof maintenance, you can conduct roof inspections without climbing the roof. You’re not expected to perform any repair work or asphalt shingles installation, either. All you need is a way to view the roofing surface closely, as well as a way to record your observations. It could be an old-fashioned pair of binoculars or a remote-controlled drone with an HD camera. At the end of the day, you should note issues such as damaged or missing parts of the roof, as well as signs of aging and fading.

How Roofing Inspections Result in Savings

Roofs are exposed to wear and tear, which means damage is inevitable. Many homeowners tend to be reactive with their roofing care, only calling for repairs when leaks happen. It can also be favorable for your insurance premiums; insurance providers frown upon neglected roofs. There are even greater savings when you consider that well-maintained roofs aren’t likely to be replaced prematurely.
